Liz Waddy, the team manager: "The team did very well." Sums it up really. County Coach Nigel Willis writes: Berks & South Bucks County Team manager Liz Waddy and Coach Nigel Willis with 24 swimmers travelled up to Sheffield for the annual National Inter County Team Championships. The day started with the grand parade of County ASA banners and the hosts for this year’s event were Ross Davenport and Sarah Price who got the swimmers and spectators into the spirit of the competition. The atmosphere was electric with Ponds Forge splitting into two 25m pools with Division 1 in one pool and Division 2 in the other, with starts interleaving this meant that there were two races going on at the same time in the two pools. 39 teams competing from across Great Britain meant that one entire side of spectator area was taken up by swimmers a blaze with team colours and banners. There were some excellent swims with a number of personal best times being achieved. The county gained a total of 13 top six places and there were some excellent relay results. The team finished in 6th position out of 20 teams in Division 1 only to be beaten by Lancashire, Yorkshire, Middlesex, Somerset and Northumberland and Durham. The entire team performed well and everyone played their part to the full. Well done to all swimmers! Nigel Willis The results are availabe to view. |
