OFFICIALS: There is a course for "Officiating at Events Including Swimmers with Disabilities" on February 18th, 2012 in Southampton.  See the Officials' pages.

CONGRATULATIONS: to Roger Penfold on the award of an MBE in the 2011 New Year's Honours for "services to the Amateur Swimming Association South East Region and to Local Government in Berkshire". Roger is Secretary of Berks and South Bucks ASA , Finance Board Member of the South East Region and President of Reading Swimming Club. He's also an referee, supporting many local club and regional galas.

NO-FRILLS 2012: Just in case anyone was planning to attend this year, the County will not be running this meet in 2012.

REGION COURSES: Rather late notice, but there are some (classroom) courses on using the online membership training courses (for club membership secretaries) available from the ASA South East Region being held on the 10th December (Gatwick) and 14th (Oxford). If you can't make those, there are a couple of "virtual" online courses being held on December 5th and 7th which you can do from home... See details and forms for the classroom and virtual courses.

BERKS & SOUTH BUCKS PRESIDENT SOUGHT: The Association is seeking a President, to succeed Sue Green, who has very kindly continued in office beyond her “retirement” date.

Accordingly, expressions of interest (details here) are requested from adult members of affiliated clubs. Please contact the Hon Secretary by 14 November 2011, if you are interesting in serving as President.

COUNTY TEAM MANAGER - WANTED: One of the key events for the County each year in October is the Intercounties competition in Sheffield.  A key member of the team is the Team Manager, who works alongside the County Coach (currently Nigel Willis, but Matt Heathcock from 2012).

Liz Waddy has carried out this role for some time, but 2011 will be her last year.  We are looking for a new team manager to take over for 2012, and ideally to shadow Liz at the 2011 Intercounties.

Anyone who might be interested in this role should contact Rob Moore, Secretary of the Swimming Committee.  

As the 2011 Intercounties is so close,  expressions of interest should ideally be received before the end of September.

COUNTY COACH APPOINTMENT: The Executive are pleased to announce that Matt Heathcock has been appointed as County Coach following Nigel  Willis' retirement after this years Intercounties' competition.
