Job Title:

Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire ASA
County Team Manager

Discipline:

Performance Swimming

Reports To:

Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire ASA Swimming Committee
(who in turn report to the Executive Committee)

Overall:

The key objectives of the position are to organize and manage any Performance Swimming teams that represent the County at both home and away competitions. The position will work closely alongside the County Coach for

Performance Swimming and will be comfortable operating in a largely autonomous manner. Experience of working with children away from home / travelling would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

Team selection:

  • Review results achieved by County swimmers
  • Work with County Coach to select a team

Logistics:

  • Book and pay for coach
  • Book and pay for hotel
  • Make catering arrangements for trip
  • Organize training and briefing session in advance of competition
  • Travel with the competing team

Communication:

  • Prepare Risk Assessment document
  • Distribute and collect completed medical and code of conduct forms from swimmers
  • Liaise with ASA on invitation to compete and team declarations
  • Liaise with County Executive to secure travelling officials and attendance of the President (or deputy)
  • Attend team manager meetings
  • Circulate results and write competition report

The role involves regular liaison with the County Coach and the Swimming Committee for Performance Swimming. The position holder is responsible for reporting to the Swimming Committee on a regular basis.

Individual:

The individual who filled this position would probably have the following characteristics:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience at a performance swimming club.
  • Highly developed organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, inter-personal and influencing skills are important attributes in running County teams.
  • Self-motivated and wishing to make a difference.
  • Completed the ASA team manager course
